Description
Calafate – luxurious natural yarn for dyeing made from Merino, Alpaca & Yak
Calafate is a high‑quality, undyed yarn for dyeing that combines three premium luxury fibres: 50% ultrafine Merino, 40% baby alpaca and 10% yak. The Merino wool is mulesing‑free and sourced from Patagonia. Its ultrafine fibre diameter of 17.5 microns ensures exceptional softness and elasticity.
The baby alpaca from the first shearing of young animals in the Peruvian highlands adds sheen, drape and a delicate, non‑shedding surface. The yak fibre from Mongolia (approx. 16 microns) provides additional warmth and a refined, natural depth to the dyed colours.
Our entire supply chain follows strict social, ethical and environmental standards – from the farm to the finished yarn. Calafate is lightweight, breathable, skin‑friendly and ideal for high‑quality projects such as hats, wrist warmers, shawls, scarves, cardigans and sweaters. A versatile premium yarn that dyes beautifully and delivers professional results.
